Green light for new school plans

Plans for the brand new Melksham Oak Community School were given a final nod of approval from local authorities recently.
The new Melksham Oak Community School, which will replace the current George Ward School, is set to be built on land within the Woolmore Farm site.
The plans were give the all-clear by Wiltshire County Council at a cabinet meeting recently.
The decision comes after a lengthy planning process during which an administritive hitch delayed plans in February, meaning the application had to be re-submitted.
The plans will now be considered by the Secretary of State before any building work starts.
It is predicted that building work on the new school will begin early in 2010.
