Going mad for maths in Melksham
A Melksham-wide maths challenge is being organised for local people to take part in over August.
The maths challenge will invite people young and old to answer maths-related questions which will be put up in shops and businesses in Melksham’s town centre. The event has been organised by Kings Park Primary School teacher Luke Dart, with the help of staff at Forest and Sandridge School and Jo Emery from Kingstons Estate Agents.
Luke said, “We had a maths consultant in the school from Wiltshire primary maths team and it was noticed that there’s a drop in attainment over the school holiday period when it comes to maths, so this is something to keep the brain cells ticking over.
“There will be 24 different maths trivia questions on A5 paper put up in shops around the town centre. People are invited to go around with their quiz sheet and try to fill in the questions based on the clues in each window. There will be prizes for the most correct answers. The free quiz sheets can be picked up from Melksham Library.
“I’d like to thank Jo Emery, who has been the driving force behind this.”
