Hospital gala weekend raises £13,000
The Hospital Gala Weekend, which was held to celebrate Frome’s new hospital, raised a mammoth £13,000.
There was a fete on 12th July and a cricket match on the following day when Frome Cricket Club played the Lords Taverners celebrity team.
The £13,000 will be shared between the Friends of Frome Hospital and the Lords Taverners’ own charity, which supports handicapped children.
Peter Smith, vice-chairman of the Friends and organiser of the event, was delighted with the outcome.
“The weather was kind and it was a great weekend. To raise this sum as well was an added bonus,” he said.
“Our thanks go in particular to those companies and individuals who purchased tables for the Taverners’ lunch which largely underwrote our costs and also to the people of Frome who turned out in force to both the fete and the cricket match.
“We cannot thank them enough for their support throughout the 12-year fight for the new hospital. It was that constant support which made a dream a reality” he said.
