August

Wednesday 20th
11.00am - 12.00 noon: Team Read Party at Westbury Library. Crafts, games, quizzes and stories. Entry by free ticket available from the library in advance. Suitable for 5-11 year olds.
7.30 -9.00pm: Author Frances Garrood will be visiting the Westbury Library readers group.  All members welcome. Ring Sabina Edwards on 01373-822294 for more information.

Saturday 23rd

Sunday 24th
10am: Westbury and District Cricket Club 6-a-Side Tournament, an all day event at Leighton Recreation Centre. This will be a fun family day guaranteeing 3 games, with two groups of 4. The entrance price is £35.00. Only one West of England Premier League player allowed per team, unless under 18. Everyone has a bowl except the keeper. Saturday 30th
Evening: Westbury Cricket Club & Rugby club have got together to hold a Black Tie Summer Ball at the Club in a Marquee. There will be a live band, disco, silent auction and buffet. Tickets are in short supply and selling quickly, so please reserve yours at £30.00 each (table of ten - Free Champagne) and available from Neil Hawker on 07977 254 262 or from the bar.

September Friday 5th
9.30am - 11am: ‘Have your say and come play’ at the White Horse Children’s Centre, Eden Vale Road, Westbury. An informal meeting for parents and carers, and their children. This is an opportunity to have a say in the type of activities that your children’s centre could provide.

Friday 22nd- Sunday 24th.
Flower Festival at All Saints Church, Westbury. Fresh from their participation at the recent Flower Festival in Salisbury Cathedral, The Melksham and District flower arrangement society and the flower arrangers of the churches in the White Horse Team Ministry are preparing for a Festival of Flowers at All Saints Church, Westbury between 22nd-24th August.
The general theme is based on the ‘I am’ sayings of Jesus in St John’s Gospel. “I am the Way” is the title of the Festival and will form the centrepiece of the show.
Readers of this newspaper are warmly invited to join us in this celebration of flowers between 11am and 5pm each day. Admission is by donation of £2 per adult (children are free). Refreshments will be available. For more details please contact the Parish Office (01373 859450)
